FANCY FALL FASHION

I woke up this morning very EARLY, I have to go and sit on the tube for an hour to get to heathrow to pick my sister up. She has been in America all summer having a great time doing work experience at a summer camp.

The first thing i did was turn on my laptop and check her flight was on time, then i found the little beauty below while browsing Vogue UK. It looks like its been a fun summer all round judging by the Lanvin Fall/Winter 2011-2012 Ad campaign.

It is refreshing to see such fun being had in the Ad world , it gives off a different impression to the viewer a younger funkier one, making the clothes a lot more wearable. It has very similar vibes to the Prada Spring Summer 2011 Ad campaign.

Im sorry Lanvin, Prada wins every time it makes me want to stut around in stripes and just dance down the streets, the ad is advertising brilliance .

SUMMER IN LONDON

When its sunny in London there is an amazing vibe, its not a regular occurance so the people and the places just seem to be even more alive, here is a couple of snaps ive taken in the city and on my travels.
An advantage of going to a University which takes on such a wide range of students is free  places to stay around the world. I went to visit my friend in Ireland , it was my first time in the Country and it was beautiful even though i couldn't understand what anyone was saying.

Whenever I walk past the GPStudio in Borough their window always attracts my attention. This time it was because of  Sophie Emma James's textile prints

James uses primary sources for inspiration this shows in the unique originality of the prints and  the window display.

The best cupcakes in London - humming bird bakery with cafes in Soho , South Kensington, Portobello road and Liver pool Street they are a bit to convenient to walk past without popping in for a red velvet.

on the train home...Fields are always a welcome sight.

I grew up in a land where Home made goods are not a lifestyle choice but just the norm.

Malborough Village
the villages in my area are full with lovely home and clothing boutiques and are always full of tourists browsing before popping into a local pub for some lovely Wiltshire food!

While shopping in Cheltenham  i came across a collection of Fred Perry products designed by Amy Winehouse, I didn't know this existed (WHOOPS). It is a very nice unusually colourful for Fred Perry, you can defiantly see Amy's input unlike some other celebrity collaborations.

summer fun with friends.

Love the Threatre first show of the week was We Will Rock You,  the costumes were like stepping into retro heaven and a surprising twist to the story of Queen kept us entertained throughout.

Second show was the Wizard of Oz the production and costumes are absolutely amazing, the amount of Swarovski crystals were blinding.

First trip and i will be going back, Wahaca resurants can be found all across the city when you  fancy a Mexican indulgence in a fun ,funky and casual environment.

Only in London

Taking photos while cycling is not advised Trafalgar square looked lovely in the sunshine.

as does the archway to the Palace.

St James park band stand, I love how deck chairs immediately give the park that holiday beach feel .

Im not too sure how happy i am about these H&M boots, they are a blatant copy of  the classic Dr Martens boot and they haven't even copied them nicely they look cheap and the on trend mint green doesn't work with the black sole.

the sunshine doesnt last forever.

Angel has a great selection of Pub and Gig venues, great if you want to get away from the tourists.

There is the opportunity to see a new band every night in the city, usually gigs are free and you get to go to places you would generally walk straight past. Above are napoleon in rags  a band from my home town.

I chased this couple down Camden High Street to get a photo, they looked amazing in the sunshine, forget following vintage trends these are the people that are the trend.

SLEEP ART.

We all remember the occasional dream and if you think too much into what could of triggered your brain to play out the usually surreal scenes you could actually go a little crazy but what would you do if you woke up to find you had been drawing in your sleep??

Follow the link below to hear Artist Lee Hadwin explain his night time activities.

I find it quite fascinating.

TOM FORD

When Tom Fords name is mentioned the things that come to mind are Successful, Sophisticated ,Seemingly friendly guy in interviews but my opinion has changed due to one decision he made on a vogue shoot.

first thoughts are the scene, accessories and animals make this on trend metallic dress look very tacky.
second thoughts are very striking model, looks very petite.

She is petite for a reason!
She is 10 years old !!!
This isn't a new children's wear venture for Ford she is wearing adult clothes.
From thousands of available models he chose to use a 10 year old.

I completely disagree with this, the media constantly play up on the fact young girls look up to the size zero models and make unhealthy decisions for themselves to become that skinny. but what kind of message is this sending out to our youth when we are putting younger and younger girls inside magazines??

DIP DYE

From East London a new trend has spread ....DIP DYEING!!

Its now just as common as blonde highlights but technically better because if you get bored of it you can just snip off your tips.

FIELD DAY

Defiantly a bit late but I went to FIELD DAY in Victoria park and it was an AMAZING day.  Big festivals like  Reading/Glasto are great but if you like more unique up and coming acts smaller festivals are the place to be this summer.

Docs, a Drop Dead Tee and Lace cycling shorts complete this festivalers look.

This trio stood out for making a effort with on trend  layering of hats and skirts on the girls and  a nice grandad cardy on the man.

black sheer shirt contrasted by a Burberry check and lace mixed with leather, the style at Field Day didnt disapoint.

LOVE HER HAIR

PEPE PERFECT

I have a massive addiction to jewellery and if I had endless amounts of money I think I would buy Maria Francesca Pepe's whole collection. The London PR company Trace who I interned for represent her collection and i couldn't keep my eyes off it every time I went into the showroom. Each piece has a certain rigidity be it the tubular necklaces or the spiked rings  ,it is harsh but wearable. Her more elaborate pieces include headpieces and body chains that have been worn by the likes of Lady Gaga which have a more erotic undertone. I think it is easy to find beauty and personal meaning in each piece of jewellery/ accessory she creates.

use the link to navigate to the Final Fall Winter 2011 Film  which shows off her collection in a harsh but beautiful manner.

The above cross ring is something i fear i will not be able to live without for much longer .....I really need a job !

BRANDS GETTING CAUGHT OUT

Zara cheap and cheerful fashion ....NOPE cheap and tearful ...i have just read that they have been accused by the Brazilian government after keeping employees producing the international brands products in sweatshop conditions, one girl was just 14. The workers are paid between $156-290 a month when infact the minimum wage in Brazil is $344. Before this Zara has always has a clean slate unlike many other fast fashion brands.
I f they are going to be a fast fashion respectable brand they need to play by the rules, they cannot expect their reputation to cover the fact they are using sweatshop workers ,it definitely wont be taken lightly in anyone's viewpoint.

We hear all the time about celebrities getting sent clothes in the hope that they will wear them ,get photographed and consequently provide free advertising for the brand. Abercrombie and Fitch have taken this approach a little differently and has told a member of the Jersey Shore cast that they will pay them not to wear their clothes any more. Abercrombie rely on their strong brand image that flows through every project so if they think someone is damaging this they are going to want to change it.... after all without the strong brand image it really is just tracksuits and fragrances that they sell. This works very well for them though ,they showed a 64% increase in profit in the second quarter (the second period of 3 months after the first fiscal quarter)

New to London, New to Law suits ...Forever 21 are being sued for copyright infringement. Just like Zara Forever 21 is a fast fashion brand and when walking into any of their stores you will find a wealth of products so on trend they may as well of walked straight off the fashion week catwalks. Obviously the Designer brands are there to set an example of luxury but is it wrong that high street brands copy their work ? should they take it as a compliment?. I know that at uni if I were to copy some ones collection because I really liked it and simply changed the colour I would be scrutinised and quite possibly kicked off the course. Yet like I say we see this happening all the time in the fashion industry ,law suits are a regular thing but nothing really changes. Could it ever change ? Would Forever 21 ,Zara, Topshop ect..be successful if it simply stuck to their own individual style? Would people go into the stores if the Catwalk copies weren't present?. It isnt a myth some brands survive on their own style for example All Saints and Desigual. I suppose even if the Catwalk copies stopped not everyone would be able to afford the real Catwalk pieces and what would all the magazines replace their Spend/Save columns with ??

FASHIONABLE AFTERNOON TEA

I believe fashion is the persona of who you want to be. You choose clothes because you know they will make you look the way you want to look, and give off an impression of your personality to everyone you meet. Even without speaking to someone you can get a hint of who they are from their outfit choice.

So what impression do you get of someone when they are eating a Victoria Beckham handbag rather than a Chloe  praline clutch???, I personally much prefer the taste of the Chloe  praline clutch!

confused ??????????????

Im talking about Pret-A-Portea at the Berkley hotel in Knightsbridge .

http://www.the-berkeley.co.uk/fashionista_tea.aspx

It is an absolutely genius indulgence. At the end of the day where can they go wrong cakes and fashion mixed together, I saw it as research into ummm.....how fashion styles is translated into a more easily understood form.

If someone owes you a treat then get them to take you here , I say if someone owes you because it is not the most easily afforded meal at £36.50  for the selection and tea and £46.50 for the selection with a glass of champagne its not something you do everyday unless you have the wage packet of Anna Wintour.

We indulged in.

  • Tom Ford light pink chiffon summer dress biscuit with rose icing and sparkly silver cuffs
  • Chloe praline clutch topped with gold chocolate beads
  • Victoria Beckham peach coloured sponge cake tote with chocolate crocodile print
  • Marc Jacobs raspberry and lychee cream jumpsuit with over-sized chocolate flower belt
  • Miu Miu vanilla bikini biscuit with navy icing and signature white bow
  • Tory Burch strawberry and rhubarb bavarois dress with flattering gold button detail
  • Stella McCartney citrus print dress of orange and lemon mousse topped with marzipan fruit summer dress of papaya, red currant and blueberry mousse, topped with pate de fruit
  • Jil Sander coloured block dress of crème de menthe and coconut jelly with must-have sparkly sunglasses
  • Roger Vivier black and white chocolate striped ‘belle de Nuit’ high-heeled shoe

It really is London's most fashionable afternoon tea.

P.s. if you would prefer to eat in your own home/give your friend the best surprise EVER they now deliver the Afternoon tea via Vespa inside the SW1 area...... i live in NW1 :(
